Event Details

The recent Federal Election had politicians and political parties scramble to jump on the social media bandwagon. Liberal and Labor were battling it out on every communications channel. The Greens seemed to be way ahead of the game when it came to engagement. The social “campaigning” was less than satisfactory, with both major parties using social channels to broadcast messages rather than listening and responding to grass roots issues expressed by their followers. And in the end, what impact did social media have to influence the outcome of the Federal Election?

In their words

"[SMC} want to help you explore your personal and professional passions by helping you connect with a community of your peers based on both geography and areas of interest. We want to ensure that the world of Social Media does not become an echo chamber of self-reinforcing thoughts, but is instead fueled by diversity of opinion and perspective."
